Born from Ukrainian Hands
Nestor's Bakery opened its doors in Saskatoon in the 1969s, founded by Ukrainian-Canadian immigrants who brought their baking traditions from the old country. The aroma of fresh bread, the warmth of the ovens, and the taste of real handcrafted baked goods quickly made it a neighbourhood staple.
For over 80 years, the bakery has changed hands within the Ukrainian-Canadian community — a happy coincidence that has preserved its soul, its recipes, and its spirit.
In 2024, Keith Jorgenson and his wife Carmen made a meaningful decision: to sell the bakery to five of their most trusted employees — four of them displaced Ukrainians who left their homes due to the war in Ukraine. It wasn't just a business transaction. It was an act of community.
